The world´s largest cities are main touristic destinations. It´s mainly urban tourism where the reasons, experiences and activities are mixed together. Amongst the last three is included an excursion that only lasts a couple of hours, always less than a day, to an attractive touristic sight close to a popular touristic destination. That´s what happens to historical cities close to major cities. Culture and heritage are now the main focus of the holidaymaker. In this article we talk about this process through the case of hiking from Madrid, a major urban touristic destination, to Toledo, a tourist-historic city. A methodology of test results will be developed resorting to collecting multiple information and data from variety of sources and not solely an extended development of just one source of information or just one research technique. The main aim is to have a deep understanding of this phenomenon detail which the touristic destination in this case Toledo, is quite obvious: a hiker spends less, furthermore he doesn´t stay overnight, in the meantime he´s using the same facilities and services as a tourist does. Geographical vicinity will be proved in the results, the link between the high speed train and the appeal of Toledo´s cultural heritage are the main factors that contribute to this touristic mobility. However, it will be concluded that the oversupply of tour operators that work in Madrid are mainly responsible for this flow. For the past few years action has been taken in Toledo trying to increase the stay of the visitors luring them with more appealing touristic packages which force them to stay overnight. The problem is that an agreement hasn´t been reached with the tour operators and travel reps in Madrid as long as there is an excess offer for excursions in Toledo it will be difficult to reduce the number of visitors who go for this option.
