This article discusses these landscapes from a double perspective. On the one hand, the main variables modelling the formal features of these landscapes are analyzed with special attention to productive factors derived from industrialization. New productivism changes old landscapes, creates new ones and abandons others. On the other hand, the details that make up the said landscapes are presented and, in particular, four main types are dealt with: the landscape of the “shelter” forest, the productive forest landscape, the tradicional coppice forest landscape and the intensive forestry landscape. Their main features are stated as well as their variants and the main processes they presently undergo. The above mentioned perspectives constitute the backbone of the present article which is divided in three main sections: the introduction deals with the foundations for the study of the forest landscape; the second section is structural in nature; and the third and last section explores in detail the features that characterize the forest land- scape in Castile and León.</p> ER -
