Abstract

For the first time, the author is studying the Bercian cattle which he considers to be a sub-breed whose prehistoric ancestors are, according to him, the B. Desertorum Barrocum and the B. Brachicerus Europeus. At the same time, he outlines the geographic extension of this subrace. He mentions the great precocity of the F originating from the crossing of the Bercian with the Schwytz, as wec as its tendency for fattening. The milk production of this special breel is rather low, but its capacity for work is excellent. In addition, the author mentions the norms which would appear th him ideal for the rapid improvement of this type of cattle.
