Abstract

A study has been carried out on the effect of Chlorpromazine on the hicken at two different concentrations per os and by the parenteral route. Under the conditions of this experiment, its addition to the feed at concentrations of 5 mg or 2.5 mg/kg of feed was counteractive. Neither the coagulation time nor the degree or rate of bleeding, nor the blood cells showed any significant difference between the experimental and the control groups.
The two concentrations of Chlorpromazine tested had an evident tranquillizing effect which
allowed a better killing of fowl.
When Largactil was given or administered per os, the residual amount found in the liver was 486 µg/100 g in the chickens whose feed contained 2.5 mg/kg, and 920 µg/100 g when the ration contained 5 mg/kg of feed, while the amount found in the feces was 194 µg/100 g and 282 µg/100
g, respectively. When 1 mg/kg of body weight was injected by I.M. injection, 225 µg/100 g of tissue were found,
and if the dosage given was 0.5 mg/kg of body weight, only 10 µg/100 g of tissue were found
