Abstract

A test has been carried out during 117 days with 14 Castilian breed sheep using an individual feeding system. During said test sheep completed the second half part of their gestation, they normally yeaned and lactated their yeanlings and they were given a granulated feed having 60% of dried hen-dung, 23,4% of barley meal and 15 % of dehydrated alfalfa. Lentil straw was used as voluminous fraction of the diet. The weight of newborn yeanlings was normal and also their increase during their lactation period. The fluctuation of body weight of sheep during all the test period indicates that they received an adequate feeding. The feed was eaten with avidity and at a normal ingestion level
