Abstract

1. A dietetic study is carried out in 25 families from a village along Levante coast, Moraira, with a
total of 102 persons, 59 adults and 43 children. The dietetic survey was done during two weeks and following the procedure of inventary and shoppings. Afterwards the nutricional state of the
subjects was examined using the cross reference card shown in the paper.
2. There was a deficit of calcium and vitamin A. And in a lesser degree of riboflavin and niacin. There is neither a deficit of calories or of total proteins, and animal proteins of good quality are
high (41 % the total). There is no other deficit of the remaining nutrients.
 3. The dietetic deficiencies are mainly due to the low comsumption of milk, and cheese, caused partly to ignorance.
4. These deficiences result in stunted growth of children.
5. The best measure to increase the level of nutritional state of this village would be to stimulate the consumption of milk and cheese and better knowledge of the rational way of nourishing
