Abstract

By making an analysis of the interesting part of the ovarian exploration carried out by the
professional Veterinarian specialized in bovidae and the necessity that the pedagogue checks that the correspondent techniques have been assimilated by the student interested in, the author points out the reasons which induced him to get an ovariotome removal through the flank which also facilitated the gonadectomy on cows as a therapeutical method of many ovariopathies which he found at his clinical work. Some photographies  and some graphs or diagrams on an apparatus and two modifications made
on same (Removal of ovaries through the flank) by the author are enclosed and described. The two ovaries can be removed with said apparatus by making an incision or cutting into either the right or the left flank; the ovarian ligaments of the cow must he previously torn or broken. This apparatus consists essentially in two concentrical tubes of about 50-75 cm. in length the inner tube having a 2,5 cm. diameter for light. It has a fenestration at their trunk-conical end in which the ovary is introduced. The technique is described followed by a list of some cases in which ovariotomy took place with every model of ovariotome removal through the flank as described. Finally, a number of
considerations issued from the use of said apparatus are discussed and the corresponding bibliography is also indicated
