Abstract

The libertion of butyric acid from glyceryl tributyrate through pancreatic lipase action has been utilized as an enzymatic system in thc study of tetracyclinc ami 4-epi-tctracycline inhibitory action.
Under our work conditions metals such as Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, or tetracyclinc and 4-cepitetracycline do not practically inhibit the enzyme if they are usced alone. Tetracycline anda also 4-epi-telracycline inhibit the action of pancreatic lipase in prcesence of metals such as Mn2+, Co2and Ni2+. Thix inhibition depends on the pH of the mixture of the reaction; it increases a as the reaction is higher.
The results found by the authors are applied to the study of the mecanism of action of tetracyclines.
