Abstract

A study of the haemoglobins and transferrins of 6 sheep flocks of the Churra breed was carried out. Three flocks were grazing near Palencia and the remaining animals in the Valderas area (León).
Statistical analysis was made in order to know the possible existence of differences between the two groups of animals and the significancy of these differences.
There is a significant difference between these two groups of animals in Hb i , Tf and Tf' c . The Hotelling's T2 was 57.62, which is significant at a 0.05.
As a result, this investigation shows that these animals coming from different parts of Nothern Spain (Palencia and Valderas, León), are in fact different ecotypes of the Churra breed.
