This gelatin silver print image shows Yamashita Yoshitsugu (1865‒1935), the later 10^th dan, performing a jūdō throw from the gokyō-no-waza (de-ashi-barai) with Kawaguchi Saburō. Picture taken ca. 1904 during Yamashita’s stay in the US. The original Yamashita Yoshitsugu Photograph Album (call number PH 006) is held at the Robert S. Cox Special Collections & University Archives of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, to which it was gifted by Ms. Caroline Watson.
