Resumo

Este é um exame de estrangulação carótida, também conhecida como “presa dormente”. Preocupar-nos-emos dos tipos de agarres dormentes, da parte do pescoço que se vê afectada e como. Denomina-se, habitualmente, “estrangulação sanguínea”. Existe uma diferenciação entre as estrangulações sanguíneas e as estrangulações respiratórias. Este artigo tratará a aplicação, os efeitos, os resultados, a curto e longo prazo, e as ramificações a respeito da utilização das drogas e do estado mental. Não incluiremos os efeitos de uma estrangulação sobre a traqueia, ou da pressão ou dos golpes na parte posterior do pescoço. Este artigo apresenta duas perspectivas: a dos praticantes/instrutores de artes marciais e a do médico.
