摘要

晚明时期，欧洲地理大发现与远洋航海活动的发展，使得古老的中华帝国迎来了最早的一批欧洲传教士。他们之中许多人都留下了有关中国的见闻记录，其文本共同构建了十六世纪欧洲人眼中的中国形象。西班牙奥古斯丁修会神父胡安·冈萨雷斯·德·门多萨于1585年出版的《中华大帝国史》和西班牙来华耶稣会士庞迪我于1602年所著的《数位耶稣会神父入华、奇遇及珍闻纪实》不仅全面论述了大明帝国的舆情，而且作为促进欧洲构建真实中国形象的重要史料和早期西班牙汉学研究的珍贵文献，通过对上述两种文本的比较研究，可以初步探知十六世纪西方中国形象演变的历程。
