Abstract

The shape of the primary Hanes' plots and the inhibition pattern by products and by a substrate analogue prove that ethyl pyruvate reduction by L-glycol dehydrogenase from Enterobacter aerogenes proceeds through an Ordered Bi-Bi mechanism with the coenzyme as the "leading" substrate and that of methyl pyruvate by this same mechanism or by the Theorell-Chance's one.
