China Studies Review
As a reviewer, you will be notified of the review request via email or by checking your dashboard:
In the My Assignments list, look for the title and the "Review" link. Note the absence of author information in this double-blind peer review process.
By selecting the "Review" link, you will access the first step of the submission review, which is much more limited than the editor's view and does not contain author information.
This first step consists of the following sections:
- Review Request: provides text inviting you to act as a reviewer.
- Article Title: provides the article's title.
- Abstract: provides the abstract text.
Further down the screen, you will find additional information.
The link View All Submission Details will open a window with additional information, including all non-author metadata:
Please note that none of these fields are editable by the reviewer, and they are only provided to assist you in conducting a thorough review.
Close this window and scroll further down the screen. From here, you can view the Review Calendar, including all relevant deadlines.
From this point, you can either reject or accept the review. If you reject it, you will be removed from the process. If you accept, you will move to step 2 of the review, where you can read any guidelines for reviewers provided by the journal.
Click Continue to Step 3. From here, you can download a copy of the review files and enter your review comments. The first window is for comments to the editor and the author; the second window is for the editor only.
Once you have read the document and added your comments, scroll down the page to optionally upload a marked copy of the review file (remember to remove any personal identification from the file before uploading).
Next, you must make your recommendation using the dropdown menu.
Your options include:
- Accept Submission: ready to move to Editing as is.
- Revisions Required: requires minor changes that can be reviewed and accepted by the editor.
- Resubmit for Review: requires significant changes and another round of peer review.
- Resubmit Elsewhere: does not seem to be a good fit for the focus and scope of this journal.
- Decline Submission: too weak to be accepted.
- See Comments: if none of the above recommendations make sense, you can leave a comment for the editor detailing your concerns.
Finally, click the Submit Review button to complete the task. You will be asked to confirm it.
Click Ok, and a final confirmation screen will appear, thanking you for your work.
That's it! The review is now complete.
