Mudan ting (El pabellón de las peonías) es una obra clásica escrita entre 1593 y 1598 por el eminente dramaturgo chino Tang Xianzu (1550-1616). A lo largo del siglo XX, fue traducido a diversos idiomas como alemán, francés e inglés. La primera versión completa en español, traducida por la profesora Alicia Relinque Eleta, se publicó en 2016 con motivo del 400º aniversario del fallecimiento del escritor. El presente análisis se propone estudiar la variación textual en la obra traducida mediante una comparación con el texto original, examinando el proceso de variación, analizando sus causas y explorando las diferencias culturales, con el propósito de demostrar que la traducción no es una conversión mecánica del lenguaje, sino una recreación del traductor basada en el propio entorno social e histórico, las tradiciones culturales y las necesidades reales del país receptor.
