What do we know about campaign finance and gender so far? The scoping review as an analysis tool with a feminist approach

Resumen

This paper aims to present the scoping review as an analysis tool for the feminist debate. Through the use of this bibliometric technique, we surveyed the academic production of two central themes of political science: campaign finance and female political participation. To understand what has the literature shown us so far, we produced a state of the art based on 51 articles found in two databases (Scopus and Web of Science). We could see that even with the increase in production on these themes, the male authorship status quo remains, and gender-related issues in political processes continue to be peripheral in the debate. This fact reinforces the need for a feminist perspective that looks at gender beyond an analysis variable.

Maria Cecília Eduardo, Universidade Federal do Paraná

Is a PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Paraná and is a volunteer researcher at the Analysis of Political Parties and Systems Partisans Laboratory (Laboratório de Análise dos Partidos Políticos e Sistemas Partidários - LAPeS) and at the Analysis of the Scientific Field Laboratory (Laboratório de Análise do Campo Científico – LACC) at the Federal University of Paraná. Her research interests are campaign finance, gender and democracy, feminist studies, and scoping review.

Juliana I. Luiz Souza, Pompeu Fabra University – Spain

Postdoctoral researcher in the INTERMAPS project at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of Pompeu Fabra University. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and is a volunteer researcher at the Mediacultures, power and society Research Group at the UFPR and at the Group of Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Sciences (Grupo de Estudos Interdisciplinares em Ciências Sociais – GEICS) of the University of Minho. Her research interests are gender and sexual diversity policies, inequalities, and discursive disputes in the media, parliament and education.

Rodrigo Rossi Horochovski, Federal University of Paraná – Brazil

Professor of Public Administration and Political Science at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), where coordinates the Scientific Field Analysis Laboratory (Laboratório de Análise do Campo Científico – LACC). His research interests are political finance, social network analysis (SNA), and scientometrics.
